"Every Home Is Wired":
3 -- Endnotes
< If you followed a link from the thesis text, the yellow arrows will lead you back to the bite you came from.

16 As with news, this area itself is limited to a relatively small amount of postings, but serves to start long-running threads branching out especially into rumours and canon-related fields -- the threads which arose from C.J. Currie's two "Tentative Reviews" of Genesis releases listed in the topic rankings of Appendix A.1 are an example. <
17 Thus, one thread included here is the one asking participants to describe their personal "road to prog". <
18 Predictably, some such threads rank highly in the volume listing of Appendix A.1: by virtue of their massive crossposting they can draw posters from a larger range of newsgroups. However, their prominence in the listings cannot be seen as an indication that the newsgroups themselves are hopelessly disrupted: not only the volume, but also the topical breadth of their threads make newsgroup discussions lively and newsgroups interesting (especially for heterogeneous fields like Progressive Rock). Notably, in any way, the top fifteen high-volume threads only constituted 15 percent of the total newsgroup traffic in r.m.p, and 18 percent in a.m.y. <
